If you are contacted about a debt that you believe you do not owe or you disagree with the amount, you have the right to dispute the debt.
The following are reasons and grounds to dispute a debt:
It’s not your debt.
You have already paid the debt.
You disagree with the amount of the debt.
It’s an old debt and you haven’t made a payment for at least six years, no court judgment has been entered against you and you haven’t admitted in writing that you owe the debt.
